Why It’s Important To Maintain Good Oral Health

Proper oral hygiene includes techniques and habits that we can use to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease; the two conditions that result in tooth loss. All patients must brush their teeth regularly after each meal, at least three times a day for about a minute.

The technique to be used is the modified bass technique :

gentle brushing of the teeth in a vertical direction from the gum to the tooth, for all teeth. Use of dental floss once a day to remove food particles from between teeth.

Occasional use of a mouthwash based on chlorhexidine 0.12% + ADS. The percentage can vary depending on the condition.

Once a year, a dental hygienist should perform professional teeth cleaning. He removes tartar with ultrasound and removes plaque and tartar even under the gums, where the toothbrush cannot reach.

Once a year, you should undergo a dental examination.

An x-ray check-up with orthopantomography (or panoramic x-ray ) should be done once every two years to assess general health and ensure the absence of granulomas or cysts.

At Avenue Sourire we advise patients to come Once every two years, two bitewing x-rays should be performed. Such is done to diagnose possible approximal caries (interdental caries) between two teeth. (not always visible to the naked eye).
